NOVEC employees turn used Christmas trees into mulch to help the environment
MANASSAS, Va. – Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative will accept used cut Christmas trees, garland, as well as the holly and ivy sprigs that decked the halls, at its technical center at 5399 Wellington Branch Road in Gainesville, near I-66 and Route 29. Consumers should leave greens — free of all decorations, ornament hooks, wire, and light strings — in the parking lot area designated by orange safety cones from Dec. 26, 2020 to Jan. 10, 2021.
NOVEC’s Vegetation Management employees will turn trees, garlands, and sprigs into woodchip mulch to reduce holiday waste added to landfills.
“NOVEC is a green-friendly company,” says Rick Carpenter, Vegetation Management manager. “Recycling holiday greens is just another way we help area residents and the environment.”
For more information about recycling holiday greens, contact NOVEC’s Vegetation Management department at 703-335-0500 or 1-888-335-0500, extension 1600, or [email protected].
