How does Operation Round Up® benefit those in need?
Each month, we "round up" participating customers' monthly bills to the next dollar amount. For example, if the bill is $69.54, it is rounded up to $70 and the extra 46 cents goes into the ORU fund. That money is then distributed from the ORU fund to charitable organizations that help low-income families. NOVEC pays all administrative costs of the program.
Need Assistance?
For information on the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, visit the Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) website. You can also view a list of phone numbers for agencies that may assist customers in paying their bill.
How much can I expect to contribute each year?
The "rounded up" amount averages a total of $6 per year for each customer. The monthly billing statement shows how much is being donated each month, along with a year-end statement.
How are the Operation Round Up® funds distributed?
ORU funds are distributed to charitable organizations and county aid agencies that provide energy assistance programs to customers in counties we serve. The agencies determine customers' eligibility to receive emergency energy assistance.
How will Operation Round Up® work if I am on NOVEC's Levelized Billing Payment Plan?
The ORU amount is based on the actual cost of electricity use for the month. For example, if your monthly bill would have been $94.55 if you were not on the levelized billing program, the ORU donation amount would be 45 cents. This 45 cents is added to your monthly levelized bill amount. So, if your monthly levelized billing amount is $91, with the ORU donation added your total bill will now be $91.45.
